What They Didn’t Tell Us During Covid: Food is Power — let’s take the power back!

Education is power

And food and exercise (especially in nature) is powerful medicine. Eating a wholefood, largely plant-based diet can improve immunity dramatically. But during the Covid pandemic, we were told to wear masks, get vaccinated, keep our distance, and wash our hands. Nothing in government advice from any nation referred to diet or lifestyle.

Now, nothing in what I write here is intended to contradict government advice during Covid (although disposable, single use, plastic-based masks have been an environmental disaster, and there are huge questions over profiteering, especially early on during the pandemic). Yet it is also true that in Italy 99 percent of people who died of Covid had preexisting disease. This stood at 94 percent in the US. Other countries reported similar figures.

Why, then, did government advice fail to include the words “nutrition” or “exercise” when both really, really matter to health? We are what we eat and in this article I will focus on food and health.
